Sited on one of the areas highest points, the property is defined by a steep slope and towering oaks. As existing properties and their homes continue to evolve within this Wellesley, MA neighborhood, so too do the desires of their new owners. During a major renovation to the property, the client’s wishes included a larger, updated home with a stronger connection to the landscape.
Working closely with the architect, builder, and client, the home and surrounding landscape were redeveloped. A series of gracious bluestone terraces, conducive to relaxing and entertaining friends and family, wrap around the side and rear of the residence. Astilbe with boxwood add a touch of formality at the entryways. A natural stone fireplace provides warmth and light, extending the season for outdoor enjoyment. Fencing and a contiguous planting scheme along the street unify the presentation of the property. To the northeast a planted slope with stair connect a second parcel, which features an expansive lawn to accommodate play, including skating during the winter months.
