Uniquely oriented towards the west, the waterfront property faces West Bay and offers boat access to the Nantucket Sound. Sitting on a sandy bluff approximately 15’ above the water, the design of a new house and accompanying landscape sought to capitalize on the animated views; seamlessly connect the new owner’s desired interior and exterior livings spaces; and restore the bluff with a focus on both the property’s character and environmental sensitivity.

At the front of the property, a chipseal driveway gently curves towards an arrival court with cobble accent paving. Bluestone steppers guide visitors to a pair of prominent views: the first looking to the north through a covered breezeway and the second looking over the pool infinity edge to the water beyond. At the rear of the property, a series of outdoor living spaces and lawn treads flow from the architecture into the landscape. Reclaimed New England granite, split on site, was used for the veneer of the house and for a series of outdoor walls that retain and support the landscape program on the bluff.  Each outdoor space is thoughtfully designed with the architectural and natural context in mind.
