West Bay

Osterville

Located at the western most point of Osterville’s Wianno Beach neighborhood sits a quiet Mediterranean-style home and gardens. With over 180 degrees expansive views of West Bay to the North and West, this is a magnificent property not often found on the Cape. Purchased as a family compound, the new owners were eager to renovate and modernize the property. The landscape design incorporates spaces for active enjoyment of the landscape and capitalizes on the site’s strongest asset: its views.

A cobblestone-lined pea stone driveway provides a sweeping entry to an arrival pendant and drop-off area at the front of the home. Set back from the arrival, a potting shed and vegetable garden sits adjacent to the parking court.

Surrounded by native beach grasses and roses, docks on the West and North sides of the property provide direct access to the water. A vegetated dune separates the maintained landscape from the seawall and ocean. At the rear of the property, a pergola, firepit terrace, outdoor kitchen and pool garden each offer sweeping views of the waterfront. Slightly elevated from the lawn, the pool garden seamlessly connects the family’s main living space with the landscape.

The finished landscape consists of a variety of thoughtfully designed spaces, which respond to the unique environmental elements of wind and surf while capitalizing on views and privacy. The resulting design is casual yet deliberate and transforms an outdated property into a refined family compound with modern amenities for contemporary living.
