Rocky Bend

Weston

Perched above a historic golf course, the site offered great opportunities for a young family that loves golf and had recently acquired the property. The family looked to build on the the rural and private character of the site, while also embracing recreational context that drew them to the property. The eccentrically shaped lot, with an abundance of ledge and considerable grade change, presented significant challenges that were also central to the design of the landscape.

A carefully conceived circulation system and organization of spaces address the many challenges of the site while promoting connectivity and openness. This approach allows for the preservation of the exposed ledge and mature trees throughout the site. The resulting design creates a cohesive landscape that retains the character and habitat of the landscape while meeting the programmatic needs of the family.

Throughout the property, a planting palette, primarily limited to greens and whites, complements the architecture and surrounding outdoor spaces. The design of the landscape integrates several connections between the interior and exterior rooms, providing areas for cooking, dining, and entertaining, each thoughtfully positioned based on their intended use and to maximize views of the abutting golf course.
